Biography for Philip Becque:
I started work in a small electronics company in 1967.
We made data
processing machines and later we acquired a company
that produced audio mixing consoles. We received a contract
for a large audio mixing console, from a then small UK recording company:
Virgin Records who were opening their first
recording studio - The Manor.
I joined Virgin Records at The Manor in 1971 and worked on several albums,
the most
successful of which was 'Phaedra' by Tangerine Dream. After about
four years I moved to Samaguru Productions
and installed all the
electrical equipment for their new studio. Our most successful record
was 'Single Bed'
by Fox which charted at number 4.
I left the music business shortly after getting married in 1979, and moved
back to Birmingham where I worked as an Electronics Engineer for a process
control company for eight years. I
then moved to STC where I became familiar
with software for Electronic Design Automation (EDA). This software is
used to design and produce semiconductor chips.
In 2001 I moved into video and formed a company called
Bodhisattva Productions Ltd.
Between Creation and Destruction won two awards in 2007: A Silver Medal
from Everglades Film Festival and Best Foreign Feature Documentary from MoonDance Film Festival, where it was described by
the panel as, "visually beautiful, mind altering and cinematic".See the 'Online Services' link for more
information.
I do all my own writing, principal photography, grading, editing and mastering to DVD,
HD1080 or 4K. I acquired a RED ONE Camera in July 2008 and worked on a pop promo for the rock band AC/DC - as part of a 4,
RED ONE camera shoot.
I own all my own shooting kit including: RED ONE, 2 Angenieux zoom PL mount cine style
lenses, Ronford Baker tripods, O'Connor fluid head, dozens of RED accessories and a basic 3 way lighting kit.
I have signed 5 years contracts with Artbeats and Footage Bank to supply them with 4K high quality stock footage; having
passed their rigorous quality control procedures.
In terms of post production software I own copies of: AVID
Media Composer, FCP Studio 7, Edius, Illustrator (CS2), After Effects, Imaginate, Color, Motion, Gimp, ClipFinder, RED Alert
& REDCINE.
I am equally at home on PC or MAC - though I prefer MAC. I own various PC's and a MacBook Pro
which has all the RED and Apple software installed.
